On 9th October, 2020, IEEE CIET Student Branch celebrated IEEE Day
with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering with a Video
Making Competition - Flick the Technology with IEEE. The theme for
the event was ‘Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow’. There
were 8 participants who were judged based on how they expressed
the impact on their lives and catalyzed change in the society, by
means of engineering solutions to day to day problems and by
giving opportunities to students to prepare wholly for a future,
where they are fully equipped to leverage technology for a better
The prize winners of the event are:
1. Gaurav Tuteja: 2010990992
We were greatly overwhelmed by the students’ excitement, vision and joy to celebrate the organization that helps nurture creativity and immense scientific progress.
On the 10th anniversary of IEEE in India and in the Chitkara
University, the IEEE CIET STUDENT BRANCH is celebrating the IEEE
DAY on 3rd and 4th of Octoberin collaboration with CodingBlocks.
The day further progressed with two events- 1. Craft with IEEE 2. Sketch Your Ideas The first event “Craft with IEEE” It offered an opportunity to sift through ideas and think out of the box. In addition to enjoyable time and celebration of 1st event, the IEEE CIET organised "Sketch with IEEE" to bring up the creative skills of students. The day ended with joyful events by reaching out to the students and directly influencing them to collaborate with the society.
IEEE CUIET Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE Delhi Section
organized a two day workshop “Master the Design Aesthetics of your
Research Work with Adobe“ with absolutely no-theory experience of
digital learning. It proved very beneficial for researcher ,UI/UX
designer and App Developer. Total 30 students participated in this
workshop. Mr. Chanpreet Singh, Project Manager – CURIN, Mr.
Varinder Singh, Project Manager, Department of Mechanical
Engineering shared their valuable time to make the students learn
the design skills.
This workshop proved to be a path finder for the few rejections of the researcher papers:
i. The research papers have high rate of rejection (up-to 95 % depending on the journals) ii. It is common to receive a comment that “The figures quality is poor”
Hence, the figures play important role in our lives. So, this workshop proved to be absolutely no-theory workshop
# Skill yourself with Adobe XD!
Coding really plays a vital role in the life of students and IEEE
CIET Student Branch organized a Coding competition in
collaboration with Coding Blocks and the students participated
very actively. It gave them the insight of basic coding and
understanding the logic building techniques.
The 90 minutes’ competition filled the students with high spirits and 229 participants in the competition. At the completion of the event 3 students were declared as the winners.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association
under the flagship of the Savvy Series, the IEEE CIET STUDENT
BRANCH in association with Microsoft Student Partner (MSP)
organized the 101 Guide to Ace – Hackathons and New Normal on
Topics encompassed in Event:
The speaker for the session was Mr. Cherish Santoshi, a writer and thought leader from the industry. The event received over 300 registrations. With his extensive experience in MNCs such as Amazon and Google, he pointed out the various opportunities that all of us have in this refurbished world, caught up in a pandemic.
Amid the covid-19 pandemic, CURIN in association with IEEE CIET
Student Branch organized the Master the Python workshop. There
were 1000 registrations in 48 hours and no registration cost,
showing the zeal to create Masters of the Python from Chitkara
University. The online workshops started from 13th April, 2020.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering in association with
IEEE CIET Studenr Branch organized a two day workshop on machine
Day 1: First day of Machine Learning Workshop by Mr. Mohit Uniyal, Instructor and Product Engineer Coding Blocks organised by IEEE CIET Student Branch, began with introducing the students to the basic concepts of machine learning with some interesting examples like self-driving car, online recommendation and continued till the implementation of some machine learning algorithms. 84 students participated in this workshop.
Day 2: Started with Mr. Mohit Uniyal interacting with students and taking their problems from the previous day. Then we moved forward to today's activity . Our first activity for the day was "Pokemon detector" for which we wrote the code that was supposed to identify the characters of pokemon , and the python libraries we installed for the functioning of this code were PANDA's DATA FRAME and OPEN CV PYTHON. Next we headed to learn about Parameterised and Non-parameterized algorithm and the main subtopic under it was Linear regression. Further he taught us about Sklearn and different models in it and winded up his teaching with a quiz. So the second day of the workshop wrapped up with an amazing response from the students! Mr Mohit Uniyal gave an insight on topics of Machine Learning and the attendees were left with the zeal to get into this field.
IEEE CIET Student Branch organized an Industrial Visit to the Piford Technologies, Mohali on 7th February, 2020 where 19 students were told what skill set and knowledge is expected of them in order to join the industry. They were also told that practical and general knowledge is more important that rote learning. It is the ability of the student to grasp new concepts and creative thinking that help in the long run. They also learned some algorithms used in AI and how being adept in java could help them easily learn a wide spectrum of languages.
On 21st Jan 2020, IEEE CIET Student Branch organized an Expert Talk by Mr. Saksham Choudhary from Infosys Ltd., Chandigargh on the topic ‘Innovation Technology with Entrepreneurship’. The main aim of the expert talk was to bridge the gap between technology and entrepreneurship while expanding the boundaries of your technical interests. Entrepreneurship education aids students from all socio-economic backgrounds to think outside the box and nurture unconventional talents and skills. It creates opportunities, ensures social justice, instils confidence and stimulates the economy. The event began with Saksham Choudhary by telling students about his Golden Circle. 122 students participated in this talk. He talked about how innovation develops to entrepreneurship by linking emotions, enforcing standards, connecting with people and meeting with their requirements. If you are solving a problem and are passionate about it, you are just a step away from being an entrepreneur.
